What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a series of clear, removable teeth aligners that both orthodontists and dentists use as an alternative to traditional metal dental braces. Using 3-D computer imaging technology, the dentist can plan a completely customised treatment to straighten your teeth without metal brackets or tacky wires.

What is the advantage of Invisalign?

The main advantage of the treatment is cosmetic. Nobody will notice that you are going through treatment. It is popular among adults who want to straighten their teeth without the look of clunky metal braces, which are commonly worn by children and adolescents. In addition, these removable transparent braces (aligners) are more comfortable than the usual braces as you can remove them when you eat.

What does Invisalign treatment involve?

The course of treatment involves changing a custom-made set of aligners unique to you approximately every two weeks, gently and gradually moving your teeth into a straighter position step by step, until you have a more beautiful smile. These aligners are effectively aligner trays made of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic, with no metal brackets to attach and no wires to tighten. Towards the end of treatment, you will need to use retainers to maintain your teeth in the corrected positions.
